The Future of Salinas with the Youth Council

Young voices play an important role in shaping the future of our community. As the city looks ahead with the Visión Salinas 2040 plan, youth perspectives help ensure that the needs and ideas of the next generation are part of the conversation.

Two representatives from the Youth Council joined young leaders in Salinas this past Saturday at the City's General Plan Open House to share their perspectives on priorities for the future of our community. They highlighted pedestrian safety, emphasizing the need for better street lighting and additional crosswalks. Addressing youth violence was another key topic, with a focus on proactive community efforts and resources. They also spoke about strengthening community connections by creating welcoming public spaces where residents can gather and feel a sense of belonging.

Youth participation in conversations like this helps build a stronger and more inclusive vision for the future. Their voices and ideas are an important part of shaping the community we all share. Las voces jóvenes tienen un papel importante en la construcción del futuro de nuestra comunidad. A medida que la ciudad mira hacia adelante con el plan Visión Salinas 2040, las perspectivas de los jóvenes ayudan a garantizar que las necesidades e ideas de la próxima generación formen parte de la conversación.

Dos representantes del Consejo Juvenil se unieron a jóvenes líderes en Salinas el pasado sábado durante la Jornada de Puertas Abiertas del Plan General de la Ciudad para compartir sus perspectivas sobre las prioridades para el futuro de nuestra comunidad. Destacaron la seguridad peatonal, enfatizando la necesidad de mejor iluminación en las calles y más pasos peatonales. Abordar la violencia juvenil fue otro tema clave, con un enfoque en esfuerzos comunitarios proactivos y el acceso a recursos. También hablaron sobre fortalecer las conexiones comunitarias mediante la creación de espacios públicos acogedores donde los residentes puedan reunirse y sentir un mayor sentido de pertenencia.

La participación de los jóvenes en conversaciones como esta ayuda a construir una visión más sólida e inclusiva para el futuro.
