Creative Greensboro will hold auditions for "Bye Bye Birdie," a musical comedy with book by Michael Stewart, music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Lee Adams, and directed by Todd Fisher, Wesley McCleary, and Carrie Plew. Auditions will be held from 7-9 pm on Monday, May 4, and Tuesday, May 5, in the Stephen D. Hyers Theatre at the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St.

Actors ages 12-and-older of all experience levels, genders, ethnicities, or racial identities are welcome to register for an audition. Character and Role Breakdown are part of the audition form. Register for an audition at creativegreensboro.com

Actors should prepare 16 bars of a contemporary Broadway musical to sing for their audition. All actors will be asked to participate in a brief movement audition. Actors are asked not to audition with a song from "Bye Bye Birdie." Rehearsals are in the evenings and on weekends as schedules permit. Performances will take place June 25-28. Not a performer, but still want to participate? Several backstage support opportunities are also available. Register to join the crew using the same online audition form.

About "Bye Bye Birdie"

A loving send-up of 1950s small-town America, teenagers, and rock 'n' roll, "Bye Bye Birdie" remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses all-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for teens, and a hilarious script, Birdie continues to thrill audiences around the world. "Bye Bye Birdie" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC at the Virginia Sommerville Sutton Theatre.
