Transcript of the Press Conference by Belarusian Foreign Minister M.Ryzhenkov following talks with the Iranian Foreign Minister (December 15, 2025, Minsk)

15 December 2025

Let me begin by once again extending a warm welcome to H.E. Abbas Araghchi here in Belarus.

Today's discussions with my esteemed colleague, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, were both substantial and genuinely open. Our exchange took place in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect - an atmosphere that naturally characterizes relations between close friends and dependable partners.

We reaffirmed the strong and mature nature of Belarusian - Iranian relations, grounded in respect for sovereignty, peaceful coexistence, and the principles of a multipolar world.

Particular attention was given to the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level during President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Belarus in August. We agreed that these understandings must now be translated into tangible results.

Clear priorities have been set for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and other areas of mutual interest. This includes intensified expert-level dialogue, reciprocal visits, and the launch of joint initiatives.

Today's meeting clearly demonstrates that relations between Minsk and Tehran continue to move forward steadily and with purpose, contributing to stability both regionally and globally.

We highly value the level of mutual understanding between our countries. It is encouraging to see that our partnership is not only enduring, but evolving and acquiring new depth.

We also positively assess the outcomes of the 18th meeting of the Belarusian-Iranian Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in Tehran. Our shared objective is to ensure that economic cooperation reaches the level of ambition already achieved in our political dialogue.

I am confident that the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran, which entered into force on May 15, will produce meaningful results and contribute to sustainable development across Eurasia.

Belarus likewise welcomes Iran's interest in contributing to the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity for the 21st century.

As countries facing external economic pressure, Belarus and Iran firmly oppose the use of unilateral sanctions that violate international law, undermine stability, and inflict hardship on ordinary people.

In this context, we note with satisfaction our effective cooperation within the frameworks of the SCO and BRICS-platforms that increasingly reflect the voice and interests of the global majority.

I would also like to confirm my intention to pay an official visit to Tehran at a mutually agreed time. I am confident that this visit will further energize our joint projects and bring our nations even closer together.

Today's talks have shown that Minsk and Tehran share a common strategic vision for the future of our partnership. There is still much work ahead, and we are ready to move forward together.

I am convinced that the results of today's discussions will provide a solid foundation for deepening cooperation and strengthening the longstanding friendship between the peoples of Belarus and Iran.

Thank you for your attention. We remain open to dialogue and committed to sharing positive outcomes that serve the interests of our peoples.
