CARY, NC - A sewer spill in Park West Village, Morrisville, occurred on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 3037 Market Center Drive due to debris in the sewer pipe. Cary staff responded to an alert received at 5:32 p.m. and stopped the spill at 8:57 p.m. The total spill volume was approximately 2,775 gallons, which entered Coles Branch, a tributary of Crabtree Creek.

Crews installed a temporary dam downstream of the affected area, stopping the spill. Dechlorinated water was used to clear the blockage in the sewer pipe and flush the creek. The resulting wastewater was collected and pumped back into the sanitary sewer system. No fish kill was observed.

NC General Statute 143-215.1C requires the owner or operator of wastewater collection or treatment works to issue a news release within 24 hours when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface water.
