MARSHALL, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is starting work the week of March 2 on the Marshall Modernization Project in support of the Marshall Area Jobs, Opportunity and Recreation (MAJOR) Campus.
2026 is the second year of this three-year, $335 million investment. Work will include:
Throughout construction, two lanes of I-94 will be open in each direction, as will one lane of M-96 in each direction. There will be intermittent total closures, with those detours announced when they are scheduled.
In 2027, the final year of the project, crews will be building a new M-311 bridge over I-94, completing the I-94 interchange at M-311, rebuilding portions of I-94, M-311 and Wheatfield Parkway, and completing the M-96 boulevard conversion from M-311 to Eden Street.
