SLATE Hosts Emergency Hiring Fair to Assist Displaced Armory STL Employees

The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is saddened by the unexpected closure of Armory STL and is committed to supporting the workers affected by this sudden loss of employment.

To help these displaced individuals, SLATE will host an emergency hiring fair on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 1520 Market Street, 1st Floor Conference Room, St. Louis, MO 63103.

The event will focus on job opportunities in the hospitality industry. Confirmed employers include TopGolf, DoubleTree, Allied Security, River City Casino & Hotel, Marriott Grand, HUSTL Hospitality Group, and Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM). Additional employers are expected to join.

"SLATE Missouri Job Center is heartbroken by the sudden closure of Armory STL," said Fredrecka McGlown, Executive Director of SLATE. "We understand how devastating this situation is for the employees and their families. Our goal is to assist those affected by helping them quickly find new employment opportunities. We encourage everyone impacted to attend this hiring event and take the next step forward."

Parking is available along Market Street, and visitors are encouraged to park at Kiel Center Garage at the corner of Clark and 16th. In place of registration, we encourage participants to create a profile at jobs.mo.gov before the event. For any inquiries, please call (314) 589-8000.

SLATE also offers a variety of services, including job search workshops, assessments, and training opportunities for individuals looking to transition to new employment or careers. The SLATE Missouri Job Center is located at 1520 Market Street, 3rd Floor, Room 3050 and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. opening on Wednesdays).
