ICYMI: Senator Schmitt on Fox News Exposes Legal and Illegal Immigration Scams

WASHINGTON, DC - Yesterday, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) joined Fox News' Ingraham Angle to expose how some legal immigration programs, such as OPT and H-1B visas, are hurting working-class families and called for increased funding of ICE operations to meet mass migration with mass deportations.

Senator Schmitt on Funding ICE Operations:

"I think that this is our effort to move forward with the promise that was made to the American people, that we meet mass migration in this country with mass deportations, and we have to fund ICE's operations to go do that work. And we can do it with a simple majority. We're going to have that teed up next week. I think we ought to make sure that the Democrats understand that they're not going to get away with this, and we're going to supercharge this effort now with a simple majority vote. You're right. That vote in the House today, Laura, this is how you lose control of your immigration system, temporary, becoming permanent, a conveyor belt for illegal immigration. That's permanent, and I think that point needs to be made. America is not some economic zone. America is not a shopping mall next to an airport. It's a nation. It's a people. We have a right. We're sovereign. We have a right to decide who comes and who has to go, and that's what's on the line here. Do we really believe that anymore? I know I do, and I think we're going to have to move forward here to make sure that ICE has all the tools necessary to deport the millions and millions of people who come here illegally and uphold the rule of law."

Senator Schmitt on Legal Immigration Reform:

"We were betrayed by the globalist elites, and this is what President Trump tapped into when he came down the escalator. The people that I grew up around in working-class Missouri and all across this country, they were betrayed. Their jobs, their good blue-collar jobs, went to China, and when they looked for other work, the country was flooded with illegal immigrants, which depressed wages and took those jobs. Now we're seeing it in the white-collar world, the H-1 B program. Look, we don't have a shortage of talent. What's happening is these big companies are hiring cheaper labor, who are going to be more compliant because they're only here for the term of the visa. You also see it in the university setting with the OPT program. They get these foreign students to pay full freight, and then they're guaranteed a job afterwards, and they pay them less, and corporations don't have to pay taxes for the next year. So, we have a legal immigration problem we need to address, in addition to the illegal immigration problem we're taking on as well."

Senator Schmitt on President Trump Bringing Back American Jobs:

"Think of how insulting it is, you know, you're somebody who's qualified for the position, and then they, you know, bring in a foreign worker that they could pay less, and again, be more compliant, and then you have the indignity of having to train that person for a small severance. It's a joke. And so, we got to call this out. This is what's actually happening to real Americans. The elites don't care about it. It doesn't affect them. They just want the cheaper worker, but it's hollowing out this country. It already did with blue-collar workers. President Trump is bringing those industries back with advanced manufacturing. We can't let that happen with white-collar workers now either."
