Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne will visit Stockholm on 22 May 2026. She will meet Swedish colleagues and attend a seminar on Nordic cooperation and the role of transport infrastructure in improving preparedness and competitiveness.

In Stockholm, Minister Ranne will meet two Swedish ministers: Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson and Minister for Public Administration Erik Slottner. Ministers Ranne and Carlson will discuss Nordic cooperation on military mobility and related EU and NATO funding, among other matters.

"Transport infrastructure efficiency is part of Finland's comprehensive security and hard security. Cross-border lines of communications in the north are critical for the Nordic countries, but also for the EU and NATO. Equipment or troops cannot move, nor can evacuations succeed without robust infrastructure. Drones will not change this, and the infrastructure must function in all conditions," Minister Ranne said.

One of the means of implementing Nordic infrastructure cooperation is the Joint Nordic Strategy for Transport System Preparedness which was issued in March 2026. Its key objective is to strengthen preparedness by improving cross-border connectivity, by enhancing military mobility and by supporting secure and resilient supply chains.

Minister Ranne and Minister Slottner, who is responsible for digitalisation in the Swedish administration, will discuss digital regulation in the EU.

Minister Ranne will also speak at a high-level infrastructure seminar organised by the Embassy of Finland in Stockholm. Sweden's Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Carlson will also address the seminar.
