North Carolina Central University (NCCU) continues to strengthen its national leadership presence as LaMarcus D. Howard, Ph.D., assistant vice chancellor for student health and wellness, has been selected for the highly competitive Leadership U for Humanity program, an elite six-month leadership development initiative designed to accelerate professional growth and expand leadership impact.

Developed by the Korn Ferry Charitable Foundation, Leadership U for Humanity brings together emerging and established leaders from across the country to engage in an immersive experience focused on strategic leadership, career advancement and organizational impact.

Howard's selection reflects both his professional excellence and his continued commitment to advancing student well-being at NCCU.

"Howard's participation in Leadership U for Humanity reflects his unwavering commitment to elevating student well-being and strengthening behavioral health support systems across the university. His selection brings national recognition to the exceptional work happening within the Division of Student Affairs," said Angela A. Coleman, Ed.D., vice chancellor for student affairs.

Participants in Leadership U for Humanity engage in a structured six-month learning journey that combines self-guided learning, live virtual instruction, individualized coaching and collaborative peer engagement. According to the program playbook, participants spend an average of seven hours per month over six months while developing leadership competencies such as strategic thinking, changing leadership and personal branding.

The program is designed to strengthen participants' self-awareness, expand their strategic capabilities and help them activate their leadership skills to drive meaningful impact within their organizations and communities.

In his role at NCCU, Howard leads key initiatives that support holistic student health, expand access to mental health resources and enhance the university's public health and wellness infrastructure. His participation in this national program is expected to further strengthen the Division of Student Affairs' capacity to innovate and deliver impactful, student-centered services.

As Howard embarks on this leadership journey, the NCCU community looks forward to the knowledge, perspective and innovation he will bring back to campus. His selection not only highlights his individual leadership trajectory but also reinforces NCCU's commitment to cultivating transformational leadership and advancing student wellness across the institution.
