Chinese Consul General in Auckland Chen Shijie Attends Chinese New Year Gathering Hosted by the Zhejiang Fellow Association and the Zhejiang General Commercial Association of[...]

On 8 March, Consul General Chen Shijie attended the Chinese New Year gathering jointly organized by the Zhejiang Fellow Association of New Zealand and the Zhejiang General Commercial Association in New Zealand, and delivered a speech. Over 200 guests participated in the event, including Members of Parliament Carlos Cheung, Nancy Lu and other representatives from various sectors of the consular district.

Consul General Chen extended his New Year greetings to members of the Chinese community in the consular district and introduced the achievements in the development of China-New Zealand relations over the past year. He noted that 2026 marks the beginning of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period. China will leverage the advantages of its enormous domestic market, continue to expand institutional opening-up, and share development opportunities with countries around the world, including New Zealand.

Chen expressed hope that overseas Chinese would continue to play their role as a bridge and link, working together with the Consulate-General to write a new chapter in the consular district's cooperation with China.

The event was filled with a strong festive atmosphere, and members of the Chinese community presented wonderful performances, including songs and instrumental music.
