Sand Ridge State Forest to hold trapping permit drawing Oct. 31

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will conduct a public drawing for the allocation of trapping permits at Sand Ridge State Forest at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Sand Ridge State Forest headquarters at 25847 County Road 2300N in Topeka. Individuals whose names are selected in the drawing must be present to receive a permit.

Trapping will be permitted in designated areas of the state forest from the statewide trapping season opening date through the statewide closing date.

Two names may be listed on each permit, and only individuals whose names appear on the permit will be authorized to trap. All individuals entering the drawing must have a current or previous-year trapping license in their possession.
