Nodaway/Atchison County U.S. Routes 136 and 71 resurfacing project
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Beginning Monday, June 1, motorists will not be able to access Hawk Road north or south of U.S. Route 71, north of Maryville. Herzog Contracting Corp., contracted by the Missouri Department of Transportation, will close access to Hawk Road and narrow Route 71 to one lane June 1-20 while completing bridge barrier repairs and installing new guardrail.
This work is part of the ongoing resurfacing project on Nodaway/Atchison County U.S. Route 136 (I-29 to Route 71) and Nodaway County Route 71 (Iowa state line to Route CC).
Traffic Impacts: Motorists will not be able to turn north or south onto Hawk Road from Route 71, June 1-20. Route 71 will also be narrowed to one lane at the White Cloud Creek Bridge with temporary traffic signals; motorists should expect delays.
Crews are currently resurfacing Route 136 east of Rock Port with traffic narrowed to one lane. Route 136 resurfacing is expected to be complete in mid-July. Route 71 resurfacing between the Iowa State line and Route 136 has been completed. Resurfacing south of Route 136 and Route CC is expected to begin in late July and be completed by the end of August.
