On September 11, 2025 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Holy See and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and other international organisations in Rome, Yury Ambrazevich, presented his Credentials to the Director-General of the FAO, Qu Dongyu.
During the conversation that followed the ceremony, the parties discussed in detail not only issues of cooperation between our country and the FAO, but also the state of global food security.
The interlocutors focused separately on the measures that can and should be taken within the framework of the FAO's mandate, with the support of Belarus, to effectively combat hunger on the planet.
According to annual studies by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO, the level of food security in Belarus is one of the highest in the world, but in many countries the hunger situation remains extremely tense.
According to the same studies, one of the factors directly affecting global food security is unilateral coercive measures or sanctions imposed without regard for the fate of hundreds of millions of people.
