USAG BAVARIA - HOHENFELS, Germany - To commemorate the grand reopening of the German Kantine, members of the U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria command team, local leadership and the Kantine's new contractor cut ribbon to ceremoniously open the revamped facility Sept. 16, 2025 at Hohenfels, Germany.

Col. Stephen C. Flanagan, USAG Bavaria commander; USAG Bavaria Command Sgt. Maj. James A. Boersma; Angela Lane, deputy garrison manager for Hohenfels; Christian Graf, Bürgermeister of Markt Hohenfels; works council chairperson Robert Braun; and new contractor Andreas Waffler opened the facility by sheering red ribbon with large, ceremonial scissors.

The establishment - now "Waffler's Kantine" - opened after a one-month transitionary closure with a soft opening Sept. 2. After a trial of two weeks to ensure there were no gaps in service to the Hohenfels local national workforce and military community, the Kantine and its staff proceeded into the rhythm of their newly opened business.

After the ribbon cutting, the assembled ribbon cutters visited the facility and partook of lunch, save, of course, Waffler, who helped serve the customers their food.

Waffler's Kantine provides breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Last call or order is at 8:45 p.m.

Meal options across the Hohenfels community now include the Kantine; the Warrior Sports Café dining facility provided through Logistics Readiness Service - Bavaria; the deli at the Hohenfels Commissary; restaurants attached to the Army and Air Force Exchange Services; food trucks; and Hohenfels Bowling and Entertainment Center and Spare Time Café, Bar and Grill.
