Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) called out the Trump Administration's unfounded and discriminatory immigration application ban, which has already halted citizenship proceedings for Connecticut residents. As of this week, the Trump Administration has paused all immigration applications for residents from 19 countries, including Cuba, Haiti, and Venezuela.
"It is contrary to the values we hold dear when mothers are torn from their children by masked ICE agents, law-abiding visa holders are detained in unmarked vans, and now, aspiring citizens are being turned away because of who they are or where they came from," said Larson. "That is not the nation we all know and love. We are a nation of immigrants. This ban has nothing to do with national security. It is discrimination - plain and simple. It has been heartbreaking to already hear from residents whose loved ones are having their citizenship appointments canceled because of Donald Trump and Kristi Noem's extreme ban. That goes against everything we stand for as Americans. It is why we must stand up and hold the President accountable."
