The dream of flying can become a reality!
Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) and The Arc of Lehigh and Northampton Counties hosted approximately (30) families during Wings for All®.
This trademarked program of The Arc of the United States, delivers a one-of-a-kind travel experience for individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
"We've heard stories from families that haven't seen grandparents or loved ones in over a decade because the air travel process seemed overwhelming. Giving them a full-dress rehearsal creates comfort which ultimately might open the possibility for booking a flight," said Lisa Musselman, CEO, The Arc of Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
The Wings for All® itinerary at ABE includes:
- Check-in at the ticket counter
- Security screening by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
- Boarding a Delta Airlines/Endeavor aircraft
- Tour of the Sensory Room located in the Lower Level Concourse
- Depart the aircraft and enjoy refreshments during a special reception
