University of New Mexico community members are invited to attend Green Zone Training on Friday, March 27 to learn how to better support military-affiliated students.
The training, titled "Become a Green Ally," will be led by Samantha Griswold, outreach coordinator for the Veterans & Military Resource Center, and hosted by UNM President Garnett S. Stokes. The session will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Trailblazer/Spirit Room of the Student Union Building and will be offered both in person and virtually.
Green Zone Training equips faculty and staff with knowledge and tools to better understand the experiences of military-affiliated students, including veterans, reservists, National Guard members and family members. Topics will include campus demographics of active-duty military and veterans, VA education benefits, service-connected disabilities and health concerns, and services provided by the Veterans & Military Resource Center.
The University of New Mexico continues to be recognized as a Gold-level Military Friendly school, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting service members and their families.
The Veterans & Military Resource Center provides programs, services and community connections designed to help military-affiliated students succeed academically and personally.
