Professors named Pharmacy Faculty Preceptors of the Year

The Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Doctor of Pharmacy Class of 2026 recognized Dr. Ann Marie Nye and Dr. Allison Presnell with the Faculty Preceptor of the Year Award during the PharmD Class of 2026 Celebration, honoring their exceptional mentorship, commitment to patient care, and dedication to student learning.

Members of the Class of 2026 reflected on the extraordinary impact faculty preceptors have had on their professional and personal growth, praising the College's clinical faculty for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to preparing them to become future pharmacists.

"These awards reflect the meaningful relationships our faculty preceptors build with students every day through experiential education," said Tina Thornhill ('91 PharmD), vice chair for Experiential & Professional Education and professor of Pharmacy Practice. "Drs. Nye and Presnell exemplify the compassion, mentorship and clinical excellence that shape our students into confident and caring pharmacists. We are incredibly proud of the impact they continue to make on both our students and the patients they serve."

Dr. Ann Marie Nye

Dr. Ann Marie Nye, associate professor of Pharmacy Practice, was recognized for her exceptional mentorship, commitment to patient care and dedication to student growth throughout the clinical learning experience. The graduates consistently described her as a preceptor who created a supportive and engaging environment while challenging them to grow both clinically and professionally.

Dr. Nye was praised for providing meaningful feedback that strengthened their clinical focus and efficiency while encouraging them to think beyond medication-related interventions and consider the broader picture of patient-centered care. The graduates also highlighted the variety of patient and interprofessional experiences available during their rotation, noting that she maximized every opportunity for growth and learning.

Dr. Allison Presnell

Dr. Allison Presnell, clinical assistant professor of Pharmacy Practice, was recognized for her exceptional ability to cultivate confident, capable, and compassionate future pharmacists through hands-on learning and meaningful mentorship. The experiential learning provided by Dr. Presnell was described as one of the most impactful experiences of their pharmacy education, highlighting the trust, encouragement, and individualized guidance she provided.

The graduates praised Dr. Presnell for balancing independence with unwavering support. Her direct communication style and clear expectations challenged them to think critically while reinforcing essential clinical concepts. Dr. Presnell was recognized for her kindness, patience, and genuine passion for teaching.
