School Resource Officer Supports Young Athlete

Oftentimes, making a difference starts with something as simple and powerful as taking the time to listen.

This summer, School Resource Officer Ball met a young female student who was facing some difficulties in her life. During their conversation, Officer Ball learned that, despite the circumstances she was facing, the young lady had a strong desire to play flag football.

She repeatedly showed up to practice, ready to work hard and give it her all, even when she was lacking the necessary equipment.

Seeing her determination, Officer Ball provided her with a pair of cleats, football socks and receiving gloves so she could continue doing what she loves with confidence.

Today, the young lady continues to show up, work hard and give it everything she has. Her strength and determination are an inspiring reminder of what can happen when someone takes the time to listen and offer support.

Sometimes, helping hands do not require grand gestures. They may look like a caring conversation, a pair of cleats and someone taking the time to say, "I believe in you."

This is what commitment to community looks like: showing up for our kids, listening when they need someone and giving them the support they need to keep moving forward.
