Her Excellency Ms. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, former President of the Republic of the Philippines and Member of the House of Representatives, called on Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice, at his office today.
Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Pakistan, was also present during the meeting.
The meeting focused on the recent legislative reforms in Pakistan, particularly the initiatives concerning the removal of capital punishment for certain offences. Both sides discussed the importance of progressive legal frameworks, human rights, and bilateral cooperation in the field of law and governance.
At the conclusion of the meeting, souvenirs were exchanged as a gesture of goodwill and to mark the spirit of friendship between Pakistan and the Philippines.
