FDA Center Heads to Take the Stage Together at CHPA Regulatory Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the first time, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association's (CHPA) Regulatory, Scientific & Quality (RSQ) Conference will feature all three senior leaders from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) responsible for regulating all sectors of the consumer healthcare industry: over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, dietary supplements, and OTC medical devices. Consumer healthcare regulatory executives can learn more and register at CHPA.org/RSQ.

The conference - which is scheduled September 9-10 in North Bethesda, Maryland - will open with a general session panel discussion headlined by George Tidmarsh, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER); Kyle Diamantas, J.D., Deputy Commissioner for the Human Foods Program (HFP); and Michelle Tarver, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). Together, these FDA leaders oversee their respective regulatory sectors and report directly to Commissioner Marty Makary. The session, to be moderated by CHPA President & CEO Scott Melville, will cover topics including staffing, perspectives on self-care, Agency projects and priorities, and questions from attendees.

Other senior Agency staff will also be featured throughout the proceedings, including Theresa Michele, M.D., Director, Office of Nonprescription Drug Products; Cara Welch, Ph.D., Director of the Office of Dietary Supplement Programs; and Vinetta Howard-King, Acting Deputy Associate Commissioner for Medical Products in the Office of Inspections and Investigations.

"With so much change taking place at FDA this year, the regulatory landscape is evolving faster than ever," said CHPA President & CEO Scott Melville. "That truly makes this year's RSQ conference a can't-miss event, featuring the strongest lineup of FDA leaders and industry experts we've ever assembled. Beyond timely sessions and regulatory updates, RSQ provides a chance for industry stakeholders to meet and exchange insights that will strengthen the important role that self-care plays in our nation's healthcare system."

Each year, CHPA's RSQ Conference brings together leaders from industry, regulatory authorities, and academia across the consumer healthcare landscape to focus on the evolving self-care space. Over the course of two days, the RSQ agenda delivers a comprehensive mix of regulatory, scientific, and product quality sessions, offering something for everyone. Attendees will hear directly from leaders at FDA and USP as well as experts from industry and academia on the most current and important issues affecting the consumer healthcare marketplace. The full program agenda and registration details are available at CHPA.org/RSQ.
