We recognize that passengers are concerned about potential changes to their travel plans due to the recent FAA request for a reduction in air service during the federal shutdown.

FAA INFORMATION:

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, US Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy, announced a 10% thinning of airline schedules at 40 high volume markets to maintain safety. On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the FAA released an Emergency Order outlining a tiered reduction in service to these airports.

The emergency order requires the following reductions:
4% by 6am on November 7, 2025
6% by 6am on November 11, 2025
8% by 6am on November 13, 2025
10% by 6am on November 14, 2025

BGR INFORMATION:

Bangor International Airport leaders are closely monitoring the situation and remain in regular communication with the FAA, our airline partners, and federal agencies to assess any potential operational effects. BGR remains open, with our focus on maintaining safe service for all passengers and partners.

While airports do not make decisions related to air traffic control or flight schedules, airports must respond to FAA instructions and airline decision making to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and security. Airports also serve on the frontlines of passenger communications and support when there are system disruptions. We anticipate that travelers will experience delays and potential cancellations due to the mandated flight reductions.

PASSENGER INFORMATION:

Now more than ever, we strongly encourage all passengers to check their flight status with their airlines before coming to the airport. Passengers should follow their airlines on social media or download their official mobile apps. Travelers should be sure to turn on notifications so that they can receive any messages about their trip in the quickest method available. Passengers should plan ahead and be flexible in their travel. Most importantly, passengers should please pack their patience and be kind to those around them.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes for our travelers, and we thank you for your continued loyalty. Thank you for choosing BGR.
