DoorDash Introduces New AI-Powered Tools to Help Merchants Get Started Faster and Grow Across Channels

Today, DoorDash unveiled a suite of AI-driven tools and features for merchants, designed to streamline the onboarding journey, improve operational efficiencies, and grow their business across every channel. From self-serve onboarding and richer menu content tools, to upgraded services for merchants' own direct ordering channels, these updates reflect DoorDash's broader investment in helping merchants save time, reduce complexity, and drive stronger performance.

"At DoorDash, we're constantly building tools to help merchants succeed, from their very first day on the platform, to every order after," said Brian Tolkin, Head of Merchant Product at DoorDash . "These new tools reflect our belief that the right technology should remove friction, not add it, so merchants can focus on what they do best: making great food and delivering incredible customer experiences."

A Simpler Way for Merchants to Get Started

Getting online should be simple. Our new AI-powered self-serve onboarding experience can help merchants launch more than 35% faster*, and transforms this process from manual and fragmented into intuitive and guided. Using AI, DoorDash can pull information directly from a merchant's existing online presence, such as their website, to automatically surface details such as photos, store hours, and menu items. Merchants can simply review and make edits, significantly reducing setup time.

"We just got started on DoorDash using the self-serve onboarding experience and honestly, I was surprised by how quick and painless it was," said Jonathan Mallinson, owner at Backstreet Pizza & Pub . "Orders came in and were all delivered smoothly. No news is good news! Overall the process was a lot easier than I expected, and we're excited to see the results grow from here."

Show, Don't Tell: Introducing the Video Library

Video is one of the most powerful ways for merchants to showcase their food and connect with new customers. The new Video Library offers eligible merchants a centralized hub within the Merchant Portal to upload, organize, and manage their video content - making it easy to turn videos into orders and help drive incremental sales at no additional cost. Featured across the DoorDash app, these videos help customers decide what to order and allow merchants to:

  • Tag specific menu items in videos so customers can order directly from what they see

  • Continuously refresh their store page with engaging, high-quality content

  • Track performance metrics such as views, video-driven sales, and new customer acquisition

"Adding videos through the DoorDash Video Library has made a real impact for us, especially when it comes to boosting promotions and visibility," said Abdallah Ashram, business admin at Quickie's Burgers & Wings . "Videos have made a noticeable impact-they're a powerful way for us to boost promotions and get more visibility with customers."

Picture Perfect, Without the Extra Work

A compelling menu photo can be the difference between a scroll-past and an order. Last year, DoorDash launched an AI-powered photo enhancement tool to automatically give merchant images a professional glow-up. Since then, millions of photos have been improved, driving conversion for merchants on the platform.

Today, we're taking the next step: opening our next-gen capabilities to all merchants as self-serve tools. With a new unified photo editing experience across web, Android, and iOS, DoorDash is bringing professional-grade photo enhancement directly into the Merchant Portal with three AI-powered modes:

  • AI Retouch helps merchants quickly improve existing menu photos by replacing cluttered or inconsistent backgrounds with a clean, neutral surface, sharpening image quality, and optimizing lighting, all while preserving the food exactly as it appears.

  • AI Replate transforms food photos into elevated, professional-level images by matching dishes with appropriate dinnerware, enhancing lighting and color, and creating a clean, polished presentation, without changing the food item, quantity, or portion.

  • Match the style of another item lets merchants use another image as a visual reference to apply a desired style, such as lighting, color grading, camera angle, or background aesthetic, while keeping the original dish unchanged. This makes it easier to create cohesive, high-quality imagery across the menu.

With each of these tools, merchants can download their edited images to improve their visual presence not just on DoorDash, but across other channels they use.

Smarter Tools for Owned Channel Growth

We're also introducing enhancements to the DoorDash Commerce Platform, our suite of commission-free products and services that help DoorDash merchants launch and manage their businesses on direct ordering channels. These updates make it easier for merchants to launch faster, convert more guests, and drive repeat orders with less manual work.

  • AI-Powered Websites help merchants launch a branded website for direct ordering with almost no setup required. Using the menu, branding, and images they already have on DoorDash, merchants can instantly create a high-converting, SEO-optimized website built and maintained by DoorDash. Now powered by AI, website setup is reduced from hours to minutes, helping merchants start generating sales faster. With AI-powered websites, merchants are seeing order conversion rates of nearly 10% on average.**

" With our branded website, we've seen a huge increase in the direct orders we've been receiving. And, being able to save money with zero-percent commissions is great," said Johnny Bojinoff, owner at Johnny OX Pizzeria .

  • AI-Powered Marketer and Occasions-Based Campaigns help merchants drive repeat orders without having to build campaigns from scratch, helping them save time on content creation and scheduling. Building on our existing CRM and marketing tools, merchants can now leverage AI to automate email outreach, generate campaign content, and schedule sends timed to relevant national and local occasions, like Mother's Day, local events and festivals, and more.

"The automated emails have been one of the most valuable parts of the DoorDash Commerce Platform," said Trena Wallace, owner at Fishhook Seafood. "With AI helping power those campaigns, we're able to stay connected with customers without spending time creating every message from scratch. It's made our marketing efforts easier to manage and much more efficient."

These new tools reflect our broader commitment to helping merchants succeed at every stage of their journey across their preferred channels, from onboarding to optimization to ongoing growth.
