O'Connell and City of Taunton Celebrate Completion of Second Solar Array Project at Charles J. Rocheleau Water Treatment Plant

Taunton, MA - Mayor Shaunna O'Connell is proud to announce the completion of the City of Taunton's second solar energy project, marking another major milestone in the City's ongoing commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

"We are incredibly proud to bring another clean energy project online in the City of Taunton," said Mayor O'Connell. "This project reflects our commitment to sustainability and forward-thinking infrastructure. I extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated City team led by CFO Patrick Dello Russo, the Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant (TMLP), energy consultant Matt Parent, and the professionals at Consigli Construction's Arch Energy for their outstanding efforts in successfully delivering this vital initiative."

Mayor O'Connell, Department of Public Works Commissioner Fred Cornaglia and Water Superintendent Michael Arruda, along with representatives from Consigli Construction Co., Inc. and its energy division, Arch Energy, were joined by local elected officials and City employees for a celebratory event at the Charles J. Rocheleau Water Treatment Plant, site of the new solar panel array.

The new solar installation builds upon the success of the City's first solar project, located on the roof of Chamberlain Elementary School, and represents a continued investment in renewable energy sources that benefit both the environment and Taunton taxpayers.

Kimberly Holmes, TMLP General Manager, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, "We are thrilled at the completion of the City's second array. Supporting our community with environmental and energy initiatives is what public power is all about and we are proud to be in Taunton."

This second solar array is expected to offset energy costs at the water treatment plant while further reducing the City's carbon footprint-demonstrating Taunton's leadership in environmental stewardship and smart municipal energy planning.

"The City of Taunton continues to take meaningful steps toward a more energy-efficient and cost-effective future, and we at Consigli, and our energy division, Arch Energy, are proud to be a trusted partner in that journey," said Kailash Viswanathan, Director of Energy. "With Arch Energy's in-house expertise and integrated design-build capabilities, this solar project-alongside the array at Chamberlain Elementary School-will provide the Taunton community and its residents with a long-term, sustainable energy solution."

Upcoming solar projects in development include installations at the former landfill and on the roof of the Taunton Public Library. ###
