Boulder invites the community to Winter Walk and Bike Weekfrom Feb. 8-14, a free celebration of biking, walking and rolling during Colorado's colder days. Participants can pledge to rideto win giveaway prizes while helping the region measure the impact of biking. All ages of new and seasoned commuters alike are welcome to participate in community events celebrating eco-friendly travel, including:
"With our mild, sunny winters, Boulder is a great place to travel all year round," said City of Boulder Senior Transportation Planner Ericka Amador. "It's a joy to see our community use the city's biking and walking infrastructure across all seasons. We encourage new participants to try out winter commuting as well, especially on Winter Walk and Bike to Work Day, when there will be plenty of places to stop, rest and find your new favorite routes across town."
"It's always wonderful to see hundreds of bike riders come together for free breakfast and coffee during the morning commute," said Community Cycles Executive Director Sue Prant. "It's a celebration of Boulder's passion for bicycles."
"It's truly delightful to see everyone come together during Winter Walk and Bike to Work Week, from work and school commuters to people shopping and enjoying recreation," said Jane Ireland, Boulder Walks volunteer and walk leader. "Join the flow and enjoy the Boulder tradition of closing the week on Saturday with the walking community on an all-day, 15-mile adventure from Gunbarrel to Table Mesa."
Winter Bike to Work Dayis a statewide celebration hosted by Way to Go, a commuting program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments. The City of Boulder, Boulder Chamber Transportation Connections, Boulder County and Community Cycles partner to bring this community event to Boulder, including over 30 free breakfast stations in the area hosted by local companies and organizations. The event supports Boulder's transportation visionto be safe, be equitable, be reliable, provide travel choices, and support clean air.
