Off-Duty Officer Injured During Fight Outside Bar on Division Street

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Saturday's 9:10 p.m. physical dispute between a group of off-duty MNPD officers and security personnel from Loser's Bar on Division Street that left one of the off-duty officers with a serious head injury.

The group of four off-duty officers left an adjacent bar and attempted to enter Loser's. They were turned away by security. The group crossed the street. Words were exchanged between one member of the group and a security guard. The security guard crossed the street and the verbal altercation became physical in front of Velvet Taco. During the fight between Loser's security guards and the off-duty officers, one of officers was struck in the head and fell to the concrete unconscious. He was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was discharged this afternoon.

No charges have been placed as the investigation continues.
