County Commission Confirms University of Florida's 2025 Population Estimates

At its Sept. 16 meeting, the Marion County Board of County Commissioners approved the preliminary annual population estimates for Marion County as of April 1, 2025, as provided by the University of Florida's Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR).

In accordance with Florida Statute 186.901 and the University's contractual obligations with the Florida Legislature, BEBR issues population estimates each year, using the official April 1, 2020 Census counts as a baseline. These estimates help track population change in incorporated and unincorporated areas of Florida's counties.

For Marion County, BEBR reported continued growth across both unincorporated areas and county-wide totals:

The Marion County Growth Services team reviewed the preliminary figures and determined them to be reasonably correct. Following the county commission's approval, Marion County will notify BEBR of its confirmation.
