Webinar of the President of the Personal Data Protection Office on Universal Children’s Day

On the occasion of Universal Children's Day, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Mirosław Wróblewski, invites pupils from grades 7-8 of primary schools as well as students of secondary schools to take part in the webinar "Your image and your data - how not to lose control when using new applications?". The event is also part of the Personal Data Protection Office's educational programme "Your data - Your concern".

The webinar will be streamed for all interested participants on the Office's website on 20 November from 10:00 a.m. No registration is required.

During his lecture, Mirosław Wróblewski will address issues such as the protection of children's images online, consent for processing children's images in schools and at sports events, risks associated with artificial intelligence, the importance of personal data and information in the modern world, and the dangers of using applications and establishing contacts on the internet.

The President of the Personal Data Protection Office will also explain how young people can work together effectively within peer communities to deal with problems that arise in the digital sphere today. He will remind the youngest participants of the rights granted to them by the GDPR and the Constitution of the Republic of Poland.

This will be a unique opportunity to highlight that young people - just like adults - have the right to privacy and to the protection of their personal data. This means that they should have a say in what information about them is shared and how it is used. Children's personal data should be subject to special protection. Therefore, publishing photos of children online, on social media platforms or in applications should be done with great responsibility and care.

It is important to involve young people in the decision-making process concerning privacy and to teach them how to use modern technologies consciously.

The webinar is organised as part of the nationwide educational programme of the Personal Data Protection Office "Your data - Your concern" (its sixteenth edition has recently begun). This initiative helps to build a society that is aware of its rights and responsibilities in the digital world. Through educational activities, schools are supported so that young people, from the earliest years, know their rights and are able to exercise them.
