Reopening - Eighth Street and Weber Avenue
Beginning later in the day on Friday, August 14, 2026, East Eighth Street will reopen to traffic between Phillips Avenue and Weber Avenue, and Weber Avenue at Eighth Street.
The intersection of Eighth Street and Weber Avenue has also been closed since late May to allow crews to reconstruct the roadway ahead of the railroad crossing improvements by BNSF Railway later this year.
Striping, sidewalk, and signal work will continue after Eighth Street reopens to traffic.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Lane Closure - 41st Street
Beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, there will be a partial lane closure at the corner of West 41st Street and Grange Avenue.
The outside eastbound lane on 41st Street will be closed from the 18th Amendment driveway approach to Grange Avenue.
The City of Sioux Falls Street Division will be conducting road work.
Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete no later than 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Street Closure - Phillips Avenue
Beginning at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, August 16, 2026, North Phillips Avenue will be closed intermittently between Second Street and Fifth Street. Traffic will be detoured to Main Avenue, and businesses will remain accessible.
Sir Lines-A-Lot will be installing Epoxy Pavement Markings.
This work is anticipated to be completed prior to 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning, August 17, 2026.

Postponed Lane Closure - Southeastern Avenue
The closure for the southbound lane on Southeastern Avenue between Magnolia Avenue and 52nd Street that was originally scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on August 13, 2026, has been postponed to begin at 8:30 a.m. on August 17, 2026.
Southbound traffic will be redirected along the following detour route: Magnolia Avenue, to South Fireside Avenue, to East 52nd Street, to Southeastern Avenue. Northbound lanes will remain open.
City of Sioux Falls Public Works crews will be making repairs to the street surface following a recent water main repair.
This work is anticipated to be completed by 5:00 p.m. on the same day.

Open House - Tallgrass Improvements Project
The City of Sioux Falls will be reconstructing Tallgrass Avenue from 85th Street to approximately 1/4 mile north of County Highway 106 beginning this fall.
There will be a public open house on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Lutheran School, 6715 South Boe Lane to discuss the project with the public.
Representatives from the City of Sioux Falls and DGR Engineering will be present to answer questions about the proposed improvements, individual property considerations, and the project in general. Project exhibits depicting the proposed improvements will be available for review. No formal presentation will be made. You are welcome to come and go as your schedule allows.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late August or early September. The proposed work includes installation of a water main, storm drainage improvements, street widening, concrete pavement, and concrete sidewalk. To facilitate the proposed improvements, Tallgrass Avenue will be closed to traffic and detour routes will be in place. Access to residents and businesses along Tallgrass Avenue will be maintained during construction.

Lane Closure - Tenth Street
Beginning on Friday morning, August 14, 2026, the outside westbound lane of East Tenth Street will be closed between Wayland Avenue and Cliff Avenue. The sidewalk on the north side of Tenth Street will be closed in the same area.
MidAmerican Energy crews will be performing utility work in the area.
This work is anticipated to be completed the same day.
