The training was implemented and supervised by the international Combined Arms Training Command (CAT-C), which coordinates training for Ukrainian soldiers as part of the EU's EUMAM mission. The main objectives of the project were to standardize teaching standards, exchange combat experience, and develop optimal training methods, which will be implemented in upcoming basic training cycles. The event, jointly organized by Polish units and experienced Ukrainian instructors, focused on two pillars:
• Tactics: covering field movement procedures, cooperation within sections, and response to fire;
• Fire training: focused on improving shooting techniques and teaching weapons handling methods.
The direct involvement of combat veterans in Ukraine allowed for the incorporation of current battlefield lessons (lessons learned) into the training process. The course demonstrated the high professionalism of both sides and the shared commitment to strengthening defense capabilities.
The EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to defend Ukraine's territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders and to deter and respond to possible future military offensives by Russia and other potential aggressors. EUMAM works closely together with all other like-minded international partners to provide training support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. EUMAM is open to the participation of third states. All mission activities are located on EU soil. So far, 24 EU Member States have offered training modules and personnel. The training is supported by the provision of equipment for lethal and non-lethal purposes to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This equipment is provided by Member States and funded by the European Peace Facility.
