Introducing the Strands Archive.

Missed a day?

The official Strands Archive is here to help. NYT Games subscribers can now access all 500+ official Strands puzzles, allowing them to catch up on puzzles they may have missed.

Strands has become an indispensable part of daily gaming for millions of players, challenging solvers to find hidden words in a grid of letters, and the word or phrase that ties them all together - the Spangram. The new Strands Archive enhances the puzzle-solving experience by providing:

  • Access to all past puzzles: Play any Strands puzzle from the archive, dating back to March 4th, 2024.
  • Progress tracking: Pick up where you left off with any in-progress puzzles and track your gameplay in the archive.
  • Personal performance insights: Review your play history and analyze your stats for past puzzles.
  • Puzzle sharing and deeper insights: After solving an archive puzzle, subscribers can share their results.

The Strands Archive is now the sixth archive within the NYT Games portfolio, an offering subscribers have grown to incorporate into their daily habit. Don't just take our word for it - One games superfan recently played all Crossword puzzles in the archive, from present day, dating back to November 21st, 1993. Subscribers can now access over 10,000 puzzles from the Crossword, the Mini, Wordle, Connections, Spelling Bee and Strands archives, with over 500 puzzles specifically available for Strands.

"With a game as popular as Strands, these new features are important in elevating the Strands gameplay experience for subscribers, adding to our dynamic mix of free and subscriber-only offerings that create opportunities for every kind of solver to engage with us, every day of the week," said Jonathan Knight, head of Games at The New York Times.

Looking for your longest solving streak?

Wondering how many Spangrams you've solved? Strands players can also now track, analyze and reflect on their gameplay with Stats and Streaks.

The Statistics page is available to subscribers in their New York Times account and contains:

  • Completed: The total number of Strands puzzles solved.
  • Solve %: The percentage of total puzzles played that you have completed. Any puzzles that have been started but not finished do not count as solved and will be counted as unsolved. Unsolved puzzles lower Solve %.
  • Current Streak: The number of consecutive days you have completed that day's puzzle.
  • Max Streak: The highest number of consecutive days you have completed that day's puzzle.
  • Spangram First: Puzzles completed where the spangram was the first word found. The spangram is the special word that encompasses the puzzle's theme. It highlights in yellow when found.
  • Solved Without Hints: Puzzles completed without the use of a hint.
