In July 10, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai attended the launching ceremony of "Nihao(Hello)! China" program and delivered remarks, with nearly 100 guests from various sectors, including Director-General of FRCN, Dr. Mohammad Bulama, Director of China Cultural Center in Nigeria, Counsellor Yang Jianxing, Chinese and Nigerian staff and journalists.
Ambassador Yu noted that China-Nigeria relations are enjoying strong momentum, with flourishing and fruitful people-to-people exchanges. As 2026 marks the Year of China-Africa People-to-People Exchanges, the launch of the "Nihao! China"program comes at an opportune moment. It will provide Nigerian audiences with a new platform to learn Chinese and better understand China, while injecting lasting impetus into mutually beneficial China-Nigeria economic and trade cooperation.
Director-General Bulama remarked that "Nihao! China"program ushers in a new chapter in China-Nigeria cultural and media cooperation. It is a concrete step in implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state last year. Proficiency in Chinese, he added, will offer Nigeria a major linguistic advantage in its development.
The two sides then jointly inaugurated the program and were interviewed by Chinese and Nigerian media.
