The Voice of Vietnam marked its 80th founding anniversary, recalling its historic first broadcast on 7 September 1945. On that day, from Hanoi, VOV aired the Declaration of Independence proclaimed by President Ho Chi Minh, announcing the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. From that moment, VOV grew from modest beginnings into the nation's first symbol of independent media, carrying the voice of the Party, the State and the people.
Over the decades, VOV remained a constant companion in both war and peace, chronicling Vietnam's struggles and achievements while adapting to the changes of each era. From a single radio station, it developed into a leading multimedia organisation, trusted to preserve cultural identity, inform public opinion, and project Vietnam's voice to international audiences. On this special occasion, VOV was honoured with the Ho Chi Minh Order for the third time, recognising its outstanding contributions to the nation's revolutionary path and development.
At the anniversary ceremony, Party and State leaders praised VOV for its creativity, resilience and service to the nation. VOV President Do Tien Sy reaffirmed the broadcaster's commitment to innovation, highlighting plans for a National Digital Radio Infrastructure Project to modernise production and expand global reach. Looking ahead, VOV set its sights on joining the world's top 100 media organisations by 2045, continuing its mission as the trusted "Voice of Vietnam."
