Secretary-General of ASEAN Meets with Secretary of Strategic Policies and Programs of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 20 August 2026, met with H.E. Andrea Latge, Secretary of Strategic Policies and Programs of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Federative Republic of Brazil, in Brasília, on the margins of his Working Visit to Brazil. The two sides explored avenues to deepen cooperation in science, technology and innovation for the mutual benefit of the eleven ASEAN Member States and Brazil under the ASEAN-Brazil Practical Cooperation Areas (2024-2028). Dr. Kao welcomed cooperation across areas of shared scientific strength and interest, including climate and biodiversity science, space and Earth observation, the digital economy, and food and agricultural innovation, reaffirming ASEAN's commitment to advancing the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI) 2026-2035 toward an inclusive, resilient, and innovation-driven ASEAN.
