Oct. 1, 2025 - Denver Metro/Central Colorado - Paving and milling will improve one-mile stretch of westbound I-70

Summit County - The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing a one mile stretch of westbound I-70 near Silverthorne on Monday, Oct. 6. Work involves removing or milling off the old asphalt and replacing it with new pavement. This will significantly improve the heavily traveled stretch of I-70.

Traffic Impacts

The maintenance repairs are expected to take place daily on westbound I-70 just before the Silverthorne exit, between Mile Points 207.1 and 206.5, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, through Thursday, Oct. 9, and Monday, Oct. 13, through Thursday, Oct. 16. No planned work is anticipated between Friday through Sunday.

  • During working hours, two lanes of traffic will be closed.
  • One lane will remain open throughout the duration of the project.
  • Motorists should plan for extra time to reach their destination.
  • Drivers should heed the speed limit, leave plenty of following distance and watch for crews and equipment in the work zone.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
