Celebrating the richness of Hispanic culture and its power to connect the community.

The Santa Barbara Public Library is proud to present Raíces y Sueños (Roots & Dreams) 2026, an annual series of vibrant, free, family-friendly events celebrating the richness of Hispanic culture. This year's programming focuses on honoring our culturally diverse roots, sharing our traditions, and creating spaces where people of all backgrounds can learn, engage, and celebrate. Community members of all ages are invited to participate in more than 15 events, including curated art exhibits, a celebration honoring grandparents, a cooking workshop series, musical performances, a special mercado, and so much more!

"Since 2024, Raíces y Sueños has brought the community together to celebrate culture, learn from one another, and connect with library resources," said Catalina Morancey, Spanish Outreach Coordinator. "By creating programs where people feel seen and represented, this initiative builds trust, strengthens connections, and encourages community members to discover and use more library services."

"This series of programming illustrates Santa Barbara Public Library's dedication to celebrating our diverse community," said Brandon Beaudette, Library Director. "We're proud to continue growing this series and creating spaces where everyone can appreciate the diversity and vibrancy of Hispanic heritage."
