SNOW REMOVAL POLICY
It looks like it's going to be a snowy season, and we want you to know what to expect as well as what you're responsible for as a homeowner.
The City's standard for snow/ice control is to achieve bare pavement on public streets within 24 hours following the cessation of snowfall from an average storm of 4" to 6". To see how areas are prioritized, click here.
You can have peace of mind that our Public Works Crews are trained and ready for wintry weather! To see the friendly competition that takes place, click here.
There are also several things you should keep in mind when there's a snow event to avoid getting fined. Make sure you are aware of these rules.
SNOW & SIDEWALKS
From November 1 to March 31 of each year, property owners must clear their sidewalks within 48 hours following the cessation of snowfall. If you don't, the City may hire a private contractor to do the work and charge the cost, in addition to an administrative fee, to the property owner. To learn more, click here.
If you have any questions regarding our City's Snow Removal Policy and Property Owner Responsibilities, click here.
BE PREPARED
During a major winter event, we will post updates on a special web page here. This is also a one-stop shop where you can learn more about our snow removal policy, your responsibilities as a homeowner, frequently asked questions, and more.
FIREWORKS ORDINANCE
As you celebrate the past year and ring in the year ahead, keep in mind that you can only shoot off fireworks from December 31 at 9 a.m. until January 1 at 12:30 a.m. If you use fireworks outside of that window, you could face a fine. Click here to view our Fireworks Ordinance or contact the Bettendorf Police Department about offenders.
SPECIAL YARD WASTE PICK-UP
If you still have some cleaning up to do outside, Public Works Crews will pick up your bagged and stickered yard waste on Fridays starting January 16. All you have to do is call (563) 344-4088. You can also drop off your yard waste at the Davenport Compost Facility. For more information and tips for bagging yard waste, click here.
HOLIDAY EXTRA BAG WEEK
We understand that with the holidays comes some extra garbage. You are allowed to place two (2) extra bags of garbage, without stickers, on your scheduled collection day from December 26-December 31. Please set your extra bags several feet away from garbage/recycling carts.
CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL
Once you're done admiring your Christmas tree, you can dispose of it and Public Works Crews will pick it up. Live Christmas tree collection is from December 26-January 7 on your scheduled collection day. No sticker is required, but you must remove all ornaments, plastic wrap, and tree stands. Any artificial Christmas trees you would like to dispose of can be placed out for collection, no sticker required, on your scheduled bulky waste day.
DOG LICENSES
If you are a resident of Bettendorf and you have a dog who is six months old or older, they are required to be licensed every year:

THE LANDING ICE RINK
The Landing Ice Rink (2255 Middle Road) is now open for its second season! This is one of the City's newest amenities featuring an 11,000+ square foot permanent outdoor ice rink with climate-controlled restrooms, concessions, and warming areas as well as outdoor gas firepits.
