Senator Marshall: We Will Force Every Hospital to Show Patients Prices Upfront

Senator Marshall Joins Newsmax's Wake Up America

Washington - On Monday, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), joined Newsmax's Wake Up America with Marc Lotter and Sharla McBride to discuss the government shutdown, the Democrats' push to defund law enforcement, and President Trump's plan to bring down the cost of healthcare for all Americans.

On the government shutdown:

"Well, I do. I have confidence in Speaker Johnson, but he does have an impossible job. But I think the focus here is that the Republican Party is the party of law and order, that the Democrats are the party of defund the police, and this is the next chapter of that book. But I think with Speaker Johnson's leadership, the President's going to have to lean into this, that we'll keep the government open and, as he said, do the responsible thing. It's interesting, this is going to backfire on the Democrats. If they shut down the funding for DHS, they're also shutting down funding for FEMA, for the Coast Guard, and for TSA as well. So, this will come back to haunt them. Again, the Republicans are focused on law and order."

On immigration enforcement legislation:

"Well, I think we try to govern responsibly as Speaker Johnson said right there. I think the real issue should be how we got here, how sanctuary cities backfire, that because of these sanctuary cities, because of a lack of law and order in Minnesota, this is where we end up. This is why riots happen as well. So, I think we need to be focused to just do our best to get through this little battle, get the government funded, but stay true to our cause. We need to stay true to the cause of making America safe again. And remember, this is on the back of Joe Biden, he gave us 10 to 20 million illegal aliens. No one said it was going to be easy to dig out of this hole, but we need to stay true to our cause, and focus on what's important to us, and that's to make America safe again."

On resolving the healthcare crisis:

"Well, certainly the Democrats are not willing to cooperate; they're not willing to address fraud. We've reached out, we tried, other Republicans have reached out. So, we're going to probably have to go to a reconciliation bill that only needs 50 votes. We're going to focus on bringing down the cost of health care for everybody. That starts with our price tags bill, which will force every health care delivery system in America to show patients upfront the cost, turn patients into consumers again, and increase competition. We need to break up the monopolies, but most importantly, we need to show patients the prices and let them be consumers again."

On President Trump's Great Healthcare Plan:

"Absolutely, I want to compliment the White House on having the strength to do this. You have United Healthcare out there that's making billions and tens of billions of dollars. They're a top 20 company on the Forbes list, their executives are making $25 million a year, and they're taking advantage of seniors right now. I was all excited about Medicare Advantage, but United and other big insurance companies have taken advantage of it to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud, waste, and abuse. So look, we got to trim them back and start over, and then start implementing things like our price tags bill, which will help seniors out as well. And work on prescription drugs-we could talk the rest of the morning about the work we need to do on prescription drugs, but TrumpRx is something that everyone should get familiar with. I think it's a place you can directly buy your prescriptions from the people that make them rather than these middlemen, the pharmacy benefit managers."
