The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia, Alexandra Pamela Cole, presented her credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
The President congratulated the Ambassador on the start of her responsible mission and wished her success. President Khachaturyan emphasized that for Armenia, it is important to develop relations with the United Kingdom
"In recent years, our cooperation has noticeably intensified, and as a result, our bilateral partnership has reached the level of strategic cooperation," said Vahagn Khachaturyan. In this context, the President expressed hope that the sides would soon sign the relevant agreement.
Referring to the path of Armenia's development, the President noted that since gaining independence, Armenia has consistently upheld and advanced democratic principles, while going through a complex and responsible journey to this day.
Ambassador Alexandra Pamela Cole expressed her gratitude for the reception and stated:
"Thank You for the welcome and for accepting my credentials. This is a wonderful time to be the UK Ambassador to Armenia. I believe our relations have truly improved in recent years, and the agreement to elevate them to a strategic partnership gives us many opportunities to work together on a range of issues of mutual interest, based on democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and especially sovereignty and territorial integrity."
During the meeting, reference was made to regional realities and developments, particularly the efforts undertaken to establish a stable and lasting peace. The conversation also touched upon new prospects for cooperation, including closer collaboration in the fields of high technologies and cybersecurity.
The sides exchanged views on the ways of launching direct London-Yerevan flights. The activation of parliamentary diplomacy was also highlighted as an important component for deepening bilateral relations.
The meeting also addressed major international events to be held in Armenia in 2026, the European Political Community Summit and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17).
