COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio 4-H is expanding its commitment to preparing tomorrow's workforce when the 2026 Spark EXPO returns June 10-13, 2026.
Hosted on The Ohio State University's Columbus campus by the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, this immersive career exploration program invites students who have completed eighth and ninth grade in the 2025-26 academic year to explore emerging fields, connect with industry and university experts, and gain confidence in their next steps after high school.
Unlike traditional career fairs or classroom lessons, Spark EXPO places students directly into real-world environments where they can experiment, problem-solve and immerse themselves in campus life.
"Spark EXPO gives young people meaningful opportunities to explore careers while building the confidence and skills they need to shape their futures," said Margo Overholt-Seckel, program manager for Workforce Development and Pathways. "Each year, it's inspiring to watch participants discover new interests, connect with mentors, and take their first steps toward defining their own pathways."
During the 2026 Spark EXPO, participants will:
"Spark EXPO reflects the core of our land-grant mission - opening doors of opportunity for young people across Ohio," said Cathann A. Kress, vice president for agricultural administration and dean of CFAES. "When students engage in hands-on learning on our campus, they gain confidence, purpose, and a real sense of belonging at Ohio State."
Participants also experience the program's impact firsthand.
"Spark EXPO opened my eyes to career paths I hadn't considered and helped me understand where my strengths could lead me," said Edith Solet, a 4-H member from Erie County who will begin studying agricultural communications at The Ohio State University this fall. "The hands-on experiences and the people I met gave me the confidence to pursue my goals, and I'm excited to return to campus as an Ohio State student."
