Youth Services Detectives Working To Locate Rape Suspect

Youth Services Division detectives are asking for the public's assistance in locating rape suspect Mena Awad, 31, who is now wanted for the December 31st sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in her Millwood Drive apartment. Arrest warrants charging Awad with aggravated rape, aggravated assault and aggravated burglary were issued Monday night.
Awad is alleged to have entered the victim's unlocked apartment at 7 a.m. and assaulted the teen in her bedroom. She said she did not know the man, who she reported was carrying a gun and knife.

Detectives identified Awad as a suspect after reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the area. Awad is believed to be unhoused and known to frequent the area around Millwood Drive and Murfreesboro Pike.
