HARRISBURG - Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123) announced today an affordable housing initiative in Pottsville has received funding through the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME).
Schuylkill Community Action will receive $400,000 to rehabilitate eight owner-occupied homes in Pottsville, providing additional, safe housing for low-income individuals.
"I'm thankful this highly competitive funding will support our neighbors in need in Pottsville," Argall said. "I grew up in a row of homes built in 1917, and I understand older homes often need repairs and upgrades. I look forward to working with Schuylkill Community Action, the new mayor of Pottsville and city council to bring more quality housing to Pottsville."
"This funding provides real help for residents who wish to remain in their homes," Twardzik said. "Assisting families in maintaining safe and reliable housing is a win for the entire community. We reinforce the stability and dignity that every neighborhood in Schuylkill County deserves."
The HOME program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. The program is designed to provide access to safe, affordable housing for low-income Pennsylvanians.
