Your City at Work: From the Mayor's Desk

Last night, I presented my FY2026-FY2027 budget to a joint session of the Board of Finance and Board of Representatives Fiscal Committee. The proposed budget is centered around key priorities that are crucial for the continued growth and development of Stamford, including:

  • Delivering Visible Progress on Infrastructure: This proposed budget maintains investments in increasing access to affordable housing, building quality academic environments, and improving the quality of life for residents with improved infrastructure and good parks.
  • Boosting Affordability with Fiscal Responsibility: This proposed budget continues to make investments in support for vulnerable communities, from maintaining the senior tax credit to expanding support for nonprofits, all while maintaining a balanced budget.
  • Enhancing Housing & Economic Opportunity: This proposed budget expands the inventory of affordable housing units available while also preparing for responsible growth as residents and businesses relocate to Stamford.

The policies I shared last night reflect my administration's vision for how to lift up all communities and build a more vibrant Stamford. I look forward to engaging residents across this city and highlighting the benefits and impact of this budget proposal. - Mayor Caroline Simmons
