Greensboro, GA - The Greene County Public Safety Foundation is pleased to announce that BankSouth has contributed $31,000 to the Foundation through Georgia's Less Crime Act tax credit program. The contribution will fund the purchase of new Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) for patrol vehicles operated by the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
The new MDTs will provide deputies with state-of-the-art technology that improves officer safety, enhances operational efficiency, and strengthens public safety throughout Greene County.
A Mobile Data Terminal serves as the technology hub inside a deputy's patrol vehicle, integrating many of the critical systems deputies rely on every day. The new MDTs will provide seamless access to:
• 911 Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD)
• Vehicle and body-worn camera systems
• Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) databases
• Electronic citation (e-ticket) system
• Electronic accident reporting capabilities
This integrated technology allows deputies to receive emergency calls faster, access critical information in real time, complete reports more efficiently, and spend more time serving the citizens of Greene County.
"We are extremely grateful for BankSouth's generous investment in the safety of our community," said Steve Broadbent, Chairman of the Greene County Public Safety Foundation. "This contribution demonstrates BankSouth's commitment to supporting the men and women of the Greene County Sheriff's Office and its partnership with the communities it serves."
The contribution was made possible through Georgia's Less Crime Act, which allows Georgia business and individual taxpayers to redirect a portion of their state income taxes to qualified law enforcement foundations. Funds received through the program are used exclusively to support local law enforcement agencies with equipment, training, and technology beyond what can be provided through local government budgets.
"The men and women of the Greene County Sheriff's Office serve this community every day, and we're proud to support them," said Harold Reynolds, Chairman and CEO of BankSouth. "Through our partnership with the Greene County Public Safety Foundation, this investment will help provide deputies with technology that keeps them safer and allows them to serve Greene County more effectively."
The Greene County Public Safety Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the Greene County Sheriff's Office, Greene County Fire Rescue, Greene County EMS, and other public safety initiatives through charitable contributions and Georgia's Less Crime Act tax credit program.
