Minister of National Defence, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, participated in the conference organized by the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an event that brought together representatives of the authorities, the defence industry and the business environment from the two countries, providing a framework for strategic dialogue on enhancing the bilateral partnership.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized the security challenges posed by the current geopolitical context and reaffirmed the firm commitment to strengthening European security. He also highlighted the importance of developing a modern, sustainable and interconnected defence industry, capable of efficiently meeting the armed forces' operational requirements. "We have committed to strengthening defence capabilities through strategic investments in the military industrial infrastructure - an essential requirement to guarantee sovereignty, national security and to support NATO and European Union's collective defence efforts," the Minister of National Defense stated.
Minister Moșteanu stressed Romania's active involvement in the SAFE European initiative (Security Action for Europe), and reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening European security and developing sustainable technological investments. Through this platform, Romanian defence industry companies can participate in multinational projects, strengthening their position in European supply and innovation chains. At the same time, the gradual increase of the defence budget and the implementation of strategic procurement programs aim to increase operational capabilities and interoperability with the allies, while the partnership with the German companies in the field can contribute to the development of a modern and competitive Romanian industrial ecosystem.
