Molly Burchett

Molly Burchett, a University of Wyoming Department of Management and Marketing assistant professor in the College of Business, is the latest President's Distinguished Scholar.

The President's Distinguished Scholars Program seeks to recognize outstanding scholarship among faculty in all academic disciplines, with a focus on early-career faculty who show exceptional promise towards excellence in scholarship.

Burchett is an emerging leader in sales and marketing scholarship, focused on conducting high-impact research on topics such as behavioral sales strategy, sales team dynamics and marketing strategy. Since joining UW in 2020, she has published in the Journal of Marketing, considered the top journal in the field, and the European Journal of Marketing, both prestigious outlets recognized globally. Her current research pipeline includes multiple advanced-stage projects, with submissions under review at the Journal of Marketing and Journal of Business Research.

In addition to her academic achievements, Burchett also is a passionate educator and mentor. She is a three-time recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award as well as an Impact Award from the College of Business.

Burchett is known for developing UW's students as a faculty adviser for the UW Sales Club and, through coaching and mentorship, prepares students for national sales competitions. Under her guidance, UW students have placed highly at events such as the Arizona Collegiate Sales and the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales competitions.

"Dr. Burchett brings tremendous energy, creativity and rigor to her research and teaching," UW President Ed Seidel says. "Her scholarship and mentorship directly advance the university's mission, and I am thrilled to recognize her as a President's Distinguished Scholar."

Burchett's selection reflects her national reputation, scholarly impact and commitment to UW students. She will hold the title of President's Distinguished Scholar for the next three years and will receive a monetary award to further support her continued research and professional development.
