Join us for an afternoon of film, music, and community dialogue on Saturday February 1st, 2:00 PM at the South Dallas Cultural Center. Don't miss out on this special event to kick off Black History Month- For They Endured by Kamica King. Secure your tickets today!

Film screening: King's historical short film documentary, "For They Endured," explores the groundbreaking contributions of Black women in music therapy before, during, and after the civil rights movement, preserving the stories of an underrepresented group of trailblazers who broke barriers and paved the way. The film features a cross-section of pioneers, including Dr. Deforia Lane, Frances Goldberg, Nelly Dotie, and June Pulliam.

An arts and culture event with a community focus, moderator Errika Flood- Moultrie, Founder & CEO of Connections Multiplied Too, will facilitate a post-screening dialogue with the audience discussing pertinent themes from the film, and visioning for our collective future.

The afternoon will also feature a performance by Kamica King including a musical culmination inspired by the live community conversation.

This event is supported by: City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture, South Dallas Cultural Center, and King Creative Arts Expressions.
