Statement by President Meloni on the release of Alberto Trentini and Mario Burlò

It is with joy and satisfaction that I welcome the release of compatriots Alberto Trentini and Mario Burlò, who are now safe at the Italian Embassy in Caracas. I have spoken with them and a plane has already departed from Rome to bring them back home.

On behalf of the Italian Government, I wish to express sincere gratitude to the authorities in Caracas, starting with President Rodríguez, for the constructive cooperation shown over the last few days, as well as to all the institutions and individuals in Italy who have worked with such commitment and discretion to achieve this important result.
