Congresswoman Escobar Statement on Representative Steny Hoyer’s Retirement
Today, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16) released the following statement after Representative Steny Hoyer (MD-5) announced his retirement:
"My heartfelt gratitude goes to Leader Hoyer for the decades of public service he has given our nation. He has been a voice of reason throughout increasingly partisan times, specifically during the passage of the ACA and our national response to the pandemic.
"While we didn't always agree on every issue, he was always interested in talking about our differences in a thoughtful way.
"Leader Hoyer is more than a colleague or a leader in the House - he is a friend, and he will be missed."
