Rep. Juan Vargas Votes No on FY2026 NDAA

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA-52) voted against advancing the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act and released the statement below.

"Our troops deserve an NDAA that strengthens our military and supports families. My Democratic colleagues worked hard to remove some of the worst Republican poison pills, and I'm grateful for their efforts. But unfortunately, the final bill still includes dangerous provisions that would let the Trump Administration weaponize the military to carry out its inhumane anti-immigrant agenda, weaken collective bargaining rights, and put culture war issues over the actual needs of our soldiers.

"From deploying the military in our streets to Signalgate to carrying out illegal strikes in the Caribbean, it's very clear that Trump and Hegseth are totally out of control. We need guardrails and accountability. That's what I'll keep pushing for."
